I have spent most of my evenings recently catching up with Strictly Come Dancing with my sister, HAHAHA, so I feel very behind and disorganised re: fandom. But OMG I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! Typoing Winchester as Wonchester is funniest ever. SOM AND DON WONCHESTER! Someone make the pictures. You know, with the mouths. I am bored at work and require entertainment!

I did my Christmas shopping today! Yay! I braved Oxford Street, which was hell on earth - any Saturday is bad enough but the closer you get to Christmas the exponentially worse it gets, Jesus Christ. Especially when roadworks halved the width of some of the pavements. And Primark was a special level of said hell. The only way to not DIE OF STRESS is to actively tell yourself NOT to get stressed, and serenely weave your way through the crowds.

Anyway I bought myself some nice woolly things in Primark and bought some gifty stuff in M&S including a heavy chopping board for my mum (she's awful to buy for - if it's not practical - and sometimes even if it is - it will end up unopened in the pile of gifts she saves up to give to someone else next year). I tried to find a satchel-type bag for her but ended up reaching my limit of Oxford Street - especially as it was now dark and raining - and going home, so I have bought everything else online and am DONE DONE DONE!

Speaking of Christmas, I am not sending out holiday cards this year, as a) it's expensive! D: and b) the UK postal strike doesn't need my flist's cards adding to the piles of backlog, haha! and so I am not filling in polls as I can't reciprocate. BUT if anyone would really like to send me a card anyway, just tell me and I will give you my address! <33

What I have NOT done today is any writing, and it's suddenly super late. SOMEONE KICK ME UP THE BUTT PLEASE!! Crappy things:

1) I DID NOT SLEEP last night. sdkjhdgssg I went to bed early, like 10.30pm, with the express intent of getting a full restful night's sleep, and then just DID NOT. Laid awake for hours upon hours. My throat hurt, and still does, so I think I'm coming down with something, but wouldn't that conk me out so I can heal?? Or maybe that would be too SENSIBLE, body, ugh. I must have slept a tiny bit as I know had a short stressful dream - I was in an airport with my family (I had kids oh dear god) and I was pretty sure we were coming down with swine flu, and I had to decide whether to keep quiet and get out of the country we were in that I HATED for some reason and ~*get my family hoooome*~, or be noble and stay so as to not infect England with swine flu. Which I guess had avoided it in my dream. Ugh anyway point is it was horrible and I think that was the only time I slept. and that leads to...

2) I will probably have to wait for AGES (read: an extra 9+ hours) to watch SPN on Friday. D: I'm going to a gig tonight, so will probs get to bed late - 1am-ish? And then I usually get up at 5.30am to watch SPN before work. This would be intense and difficult and a little nutty but fine if I'd got enough sleep the night before. As it is - thinking about doing THAT on sleep deprivation makes my body want to cast me out and put up a "Do Not Disturb, You Crazy Person" sign. So in order to not die I will have to get up for work at the normal time, agonise through my nine hour workday, avoid my flist like the plague, rend my garments with woe, and then watch it when I get home in the evening. GRAGH.

Oh my god I am not sure why I think anyone cares about this, HAHA. I AM SLEEP DEPRIVED AND POSSIBLY ILL. NYAH.

I had to get up in the middle of the night last night to scribble down a scene for my spn_j2_xmas fic (does anyone else actively try and avoid thinking about their WiPs whilst in bed/the shower/far from a keyboard, because if you come up with a perfect line/scene it's a bitch to find a writing implement and record it because you know if you don't, it will be gone forever...) that involved cucumber under-eye cream.

Relatedly, if my giftee didn't specifically say she didn't want humour, but didn't specifically ask FOR humour, it's totally okay to write a (hopefully) humorous fic, right?? o.O

(If it ends up being totally not-funny, I can just claim it wasn't MEANT to be humour, right? XD)

I was nostalgically browsing my LJ today, as one does, and came across the weird yet kinda fun little chemistry and biology "slash" drabbles I'd written a million years ago whilst doing A-Levels and had COMPLETELY forgotten about. OMG. LOL SELF. They are even quite amusing to me, still, after like - five/six years, jeeez. Also, I am thinking of buying a new computer soonish, as this one is two and a half years old and while mostly working, it has a few flaws, many little things not working as they should, hard drive pretty rammed full; I'd rather get a new one by choice, budgeting for it, before I'm forced to get one quickly when this one decides to die. Plus, NEW SHINY, DO WANT. I have a Packard Bell right now and as I say it's done pretty well. What are people's recommendations for brands to go for and/or avoid? Anyone in the UK know of any particularly good deals for laptops flying around?
